With so many places to work I want to thank you for choosing Foss. Our employees are very special and important people because they are entrusted with the care of our residents.
Whatever form your job takes, it is part of a quality, caring ministry that has been part of the Foss Tradition for 75 years. What you do at Foss is of great value and very much appreciated.
In return for your labors of love I pledge to you to do everything within my power to reward you for your work and to make your work a joy. My office is always open to listen to you and to share your concerns. I will do all I can to make sure the wages and benefits you receive for your work at Foss are as great as they can be.

Bus Passes
Foss will contribute $23 toward the purchase of a monthly bus pass or ticket book for each of its employees.

Employee Assistance Program
Foss recognizes that a wide range of personal problems, while not directly associated with an individual’s job function, can nonetheless be detrimental to job performance. Consequently, Foss believes it is in the interest of employees and the company to provide an effective program to assist employees and their families in resolving problems as the need arises. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides consultation services for referrals to local community treatment sources. All employees are free to use this program and are encouraged to do so. Employee visits to the EAP are held in confidence to the maximum possible extent.
Foss Scholarships
Foss Scholarships are awarded quarterly for continuing education in Health Care fields or relevant to your present position. After one year of employment, most employees are eligible and are encouraged to apply.
Insurance
Foss offers medical, dental, life and long-term care insurance to employees who are regularly scheduled 30 or more hours per week.
Employee Council
Founded with seed money from CEO John Henkel, the employee council was formed to help employees celebrate milestones, in times of need and staff-wide celebrations. Examples of funds distributed this past year include:
- Helping employees in time of need
- Celebrating retirement
- Recognition of years of employment
- Death in your immediate family
- Giving tree at Christmas
- Foss summer picnic
The council has raised funds through raffles, employee gifts, and lunches.
The council is lead by three staff members. The current members include: Employee Council President, Tim Teachman, and Treasurer / Secretary, Laura Gedicks.
More Fun
Quarterly Staff Appreciation Parties: Every quarter, all staff are invited to a quarterly staff appreciation party. The theme varies, and the Foss kitchen has provided many fun menus. Staff work anniversaries are read and attendance bonuses are disbursed.
Attendance Bonus: Every employee who works every assigned shift during a quarter, and attends all mandatory staff inservices will be eligible for a $75 bonus.
For employees reaching milestones of service, we offer an annual meal of recognition at Anthony's restaurant.
